OFFICIAL RULES

Check In: All anglers must check in at the tournament and receive Angler Cards by 8:00am at the registration booth at Parkcenter Pond on April 18th, 2020. Pre-Registration for the event can be done online at http://boisemetro.club/ but you must pick up your Angler card by 8am. Failure to check in, register, or pick up your Angler Card will result in disqualification unless you are one of the Everyday Leadership participants, who will be arriving around 8:30am. See map below.

  • Pre-Tournament Meeting: 8am-8:30am, April 18th, 2020 at the Registration Booth. All Anglers must be present or face disqualification. Tournament will start at 8:30am and run until 11:30am.

  • Disqualification: Disqualification for any reason will result in forfeiture of all entry and optional fees.

  • Pole Limit: Each Angler may only fish with 1 pole at a time. Angler may bring 2 poles to the bank with them, but only fish with one at a time.

  • Fish Scoring: This is a Catch and Release Tournament. Fish less than 15cm will not count towards anything. Each fish caught by an Angler will have to be measured by a tournament official who will fill out the Anglers Fish Card with the size (in centimeters) of the fish and ensure its release back into the water. Any Anglers who don’t release (un hook) fish and throw back in the lake and try to catch the same fish multiple times will be disqualified.

  • Fishing Locations: Bank fishing ONLY. There will be 6 sections at Parkcenter Pond with 1-2 tournament officials for each bank section. Anglers MUST NOT cast into folks using the lake for their own recreation and be respectful of other people using the park.

  • Most Fish Caught Purse Prizes: Cash Prizes for Adults and Children <18 years old who catch the most fish in the day. Cash Prizes listed below are minimum, but will grow with sponsorship and event attendance.

    • Adults -> 1st place = $300+, 2nd = $200+, 3rd = $100+ (Purse may be more depending on quantity of participants and sponsorship)

    • Children -> 1st place = $300+, 2nd = $200+, 3rd = $100+ (Purse may be more depending on quantity of participants and sponsorship)

  • Tie Breakers for the Most Fish Caught: If there is a tie for the most fish caught, we will add up the top 3 biggest (by length) fish on anglers’ fish card to determine a winner

    • If there is still a tie, we'll measure all fish on their Angler Card, and the most centimeters worth of fish will win appropriate prize

    • If there is still a tie, Anglers will share the purse evenly (if 2 anglers tie for first, they will split the 1st and 2nd place purses evenly between them. If 2 people get 3rd place, they split the 3rd place prize evenly. 3+-way ties will split purse evenly as well and so on.

  • Biggest Fish of the Day Prize: Angler who catches the Biggest fish (in centimeters, not by weight) for the day will win a to be determined BIG Prize! (Last year was a Paddle Board worth $1500)

  • Tie Breakers for the Biggest Fish event: If there is a tie for Biggest Fish of the Day, we'll measure the next biggest fish on each Angler's fish card, add up total length until tie breaker is made. This process will continue until the winner is determined (if Angler runs out of caught fish on their card, that counts as 0cm measurement)

    • If there is still a tie, a coin toss may be used to determine a winner

  • Raffle Prizes will be announced throughout the day. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the Registration Desk by the Parkcenter Parking lot throughout the day. Winner must be present at the awards ceremony (11:30am-12pm) to pick up their prize.

  • Protests: Protests must be made to the Derby Director within 15min of the tournament end (11:30am). Decisions of the Derby Director are final.

  • Safety: State, Federal, and Local Laws must be obeyed.

  • Entry Fees: $40/adult, $20/Child (Adult = 18+ / Child = <18 or College Student w/College ID). Fees may increase closer to the event, so book early!

  • Fishing License: Required for persons 14 years old and older. Children <14 years do not need a fishing license. The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is very near Parkcenter Pond, but closed on Saturdays. So please get your license before the day of the tournament.

  • Parking: Parking will be tough, but we are currently working with businesses nearby to see if they’ll let us use their parking lots for the derby. Keep an eye on the website and email communications as we’ll update you as progress is made.

ABOUT US

Boise Metro Rotary Club

We are committed to making the community and world a better place while having inordinate amounts of fun. The beauty of Rotary is that it's open to people of all cultures, ethnicities, genders and professions, and it's not affiliated with any political or religious organizations. Really.

1.2 million Rotarians in over 34,000 clubs globally practice the ideal of Service Above Self. We are white collar, blue collar, goody two-shoes, deviants, prudes, jokesters, stoics and everything in between, and it's ok because our goal is the same - we must be the good we wish to see in the world. Otherwise that world won't exist.

Proceeds from this event will benefit child-focused local nonprofits, including Everyday Leadership, JEMFriends, Rotary Youth Exchange and Idaho college scholarships.
